My 13cm ATV experiments started (long ago) with the Comtech 13 cm ATV transmitter and a 13cm converter designed by IK8UIF.  A friend of mine made a pcb for me and I built the converter with parts from and old LNB.  I checked it by means of the Comtech transmitter and a commercial satellite TV receiver. Apart from some oscillation in the input stage it worked perfectly.
The LO of the converter was free-running, good for analog signals but less for digital reception.
